Government of Canada Supports Film Zone
(firmenpresse) - MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK -- (Marketwired) -- 09/25/14 -- Department of Canadian Heritage
Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe), today announced total funding of $71,000 to Film Zone for the 28th Festival international du cinema francophone en Acadie (FICFA), which will be held in November 2014, as well as for the CineReleve project. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
Of this amount, $36,000 will allow for the screening of films by local directors, musical performances featuring local musicians, film workshops, and an exhibition of media art by local artists during the Festival. These activities will showcase the talent of about 150 local artists. This funding is being provided under the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.
The CineReleve project is receiving funding of $35,000 ($20,000 in 2014-2015 and $15,000 in 2015-2016) through the Development of Official-Language Communities Program. Thanks to this support, young people in New Brunswick will be able to create and present French-language films. They will also benefit from the knowledge of professional artists during learning workshops on various aspects of film and media arts.
