REC Group Tapped by Melink to Power Largest Commercial Solar Rooftop Project in Midwest United States
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/23/14 -- REC Group, a leading global provider of solar energy solutions, announced today that its photovoltaic (PV) panels power the largest commercial rooftop solar system in the midwestern United States. The recently commissioned 3.18-megawatt (MW) Rockville Solar II project in Indianapolis features 12,264 260-watt REC Peak Energy Series PV panels. The system is capable of generating 4.292 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, which is enough to power nearly 400 average U.S. households for a year and offset the equivalent of 2,722 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
The project was developed, designed, and constructed by Melink Corp. on a 600,000 square-foot roof atop a warehouse owned by Equity Industrial Partners LLC. Financed by a combination of tax equity investment, sponsor equity and debt, the grid-connected system also takes advantage of the feed-in tariff offered by local utility Indianapolis Power & Light (IP&L).
