Feeding Technology: „WACS“
Isn’t almost every pig farmer familiar with the laborious and time-consuming cleaning of downpipes in liquid feeding systems, e.g, by means of a rinsing device? From now on, the new computer controlled WACS of WEDA makes dirty downpipes a thing of the past.
WEDA’s new development, the WACS (Weda Active Cleaning System) ensures automatic cleaning of the downpipes in liquid feeding units by means of an air / water mix, optionally in combination with a special downpipe with antibacterial coating. The daily number of cleanings can be adapted to the requirements of the respective unit and can be programmed into the control system of the unit accordingly. This way, not only manual cleaning works are reduced to an absolute minimum but also a lot of time will be saved.
In order to prevent germ formation in the pipes, the feed line is filled up again with water after the rinsing (in case of stubs, filled up with feed). Compared with other system, no air will remain in the pipes.
Compared with other downpipe cleanings, the operation of the system is very cost-effective as neither a blower with high power consumption nor a screw compressor will be required. The system only requires an air pressure between 1.5 and 2.5 bar, as well as a valve opening time that ranges under a second. For this reason, the system can simply be operated with a customary and comparatively cost-effective compressor.
Apart from that, the system is suited for all unit types. Units with stubs can from now on be cleaned without any problems, too. Also, due to the high flow rate, not only the downpipe is rinsed but also the feed line, which is situated before the valve is mechanically cleaned.
Furthermore, the WACS can be integrated into already available houses or pipe systems without any problems. As a rule, reconstruction measures on a larger scale will not be necessary because only the air / water injector in front of the feed line of the respective division will have to be installed.
