Governor General Marks 30th Anniversary of the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/15/14 -- Today, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, along with Mr. Don Head, Commissioner of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), marked the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal (CESM) by presenting the honour to 36 recipients from the CSC, during a ceremony held at the Canadian Museum of Nature, in Ottawa.
About the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal
Created on June 11, 1984, the CESM recognizes employees from the CSC who have served in an exemplary manner, characterized by good conduct, industry and efficiency. A person may be awarded the Medal if the person is or has been an employee of a Canadian correctional service on or after June 11, 1984, and who has completed a minimum of 20 years of full-time paid service, not necessarily continuous, with one or more correctional services in Canada. The honour may be awarded posthumously.
Canada''s wide range of Exemplary Service Medals (ESM) recognize the men and women dedicated to preserving Canada''s public safety through long and outstanding service. In addition to the CESM, five other medals are awarded in fields of endeavor involving potential risk: the Police ESM, the Fire Services ESM, the Canadian Coast Guard ESM, the Emergency Medical Services ESM, and the Peace Officer ESM.
