ProMinent at IFAT 2014: Safe and efficient Chlorine Dioxide Generation
(PresseBox) - The system concept for the innovative generation and metering of chlorine dioxide is being presented at IFAT by ProMinent in the form of the chlorine dioxide system Bello Zon® CDVc. The higher operating safety and improved purity of the generated chlorine dioxide are the result of a solution- and performance-focused development that can be seen on the Heidelberg-based manufacturer's Stand 431 in Hall A3. Customers benefit from the minimal use of chemicals and the high stability of the chlorine dioxide solution produced.
The chlorine dioxide system Bello Zon® CDVc uses the chlorite/acid process in accordance with the standards stipulated in data sheets W 224 and W 624 published by the German Association for Gas and Water (DVGW). A chlorine-free chlorine dioxide solution is generated from a thinned sodium chlorite solution using hydrochloric acid. The system can produce up to 2,000 g CIO2 per hour, depending on the type. The innovative reactor design achieves an outstanding efficiency of well over 90 percent, guaranteeing economical, environmentally friendly operation with minimal use of chemicals.
Perfect quality management
The central system controller manages the precise production of the chlorine dioxide. All parameters relevant for water treatment are acquired and logged. Depending on customer requirements, sensors for measuring and monitoring the concentration of ClO2 and chlorite, pH and redox values are integrated in the chlorine dioxide system. The control has a large colour display, integrated data logger and screen plotter.
The stroke lengths of the latest generation of ProMinent® metering pumps are monitored online. Hazardous operating conditions owing to incorrect stroke length adjustments on the pumps can thus be avoided.
Possible applications of the chlorine dioxide system Bello Zon® CDVc exist mainly in municipal potable water and sewage treatment, the prevention of legionella and in disinfection in the food and beverage industry, although other possible uses include the treatment of process and cooling water.
