Essex Business TTC wetranslate to Sponsor Inaugural Essex University Translation Competition
(firmenpresse) - The Essex translation company, TTC Wetranslate has confirmed an exciting new partnership with the University of Essex. It will join forces with the University’s Department of Language and Linguistics to run a challenging and innovative new competition designed to find the translation stars of tomorrow.
The competition – which is the first ever to be run by the Languages and Linguistics school – will pit current University translation students against each other in a testing real world commission. The students will work on an actual TTC wetranslate client project, starting on Wednesday 15 January 2014 for one month.
Split into teams, the final year and Masters students will gain valuable insight into what it means to be a translator working with business clients in a real translation agency. Translation Challenge competitors will be given the chance to flex their language muscles and put degree teachings into practice in a busy commercial environment.
Ignazia Posadinu, Director of the MA in Translation, Interpreting and Subtitling at the University said: “It is vital that we prepare our students for the real world of work. To be working on real material, from an external client at industry level will be an invaluable experience for them.”
Levent Yildizgoren, Managing Director of TTC wetranslate said, “I hope Translation Challenge will bring fresh new talent to the translating industry, this is why initiatives like this are important for us. It would be great if other universities and translation companies followed our lead and consider running similar events of their own.”

The winning Translation Challenge team will be announced on Wednesday 19 February at the University of Essex.
