(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 12/10/13 -- The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, introduced the Supply Bill for the in the House of Commons yesterday evening.
"By carefully managing the Government of Canada's finances, we will balance the budget in 2015 without raising taxes or reducing important funding transfers," said Minister Clement. "Through the Supply Bill, we are making sure that government organizations have the funds they need to continue providing the programs and services that Canadians rely on."
As outlined in the Supplementary Estimates (B), 2013-14, 62 organizations seek $5.4 billion in voted appropriations through this bill.
Once supply bills are approved by Parliament and receive Royal Assent, they become law in the form of appropriation acts. The Government of Canada uses appropriation acts to authorize payments from the Consolidated Revenue Fund for government programs and services.
