GoBarley Ramps Up for 2014
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/29/13 -- Alberta Barley continues to invest in developing food barley markets after some early successes.
Alberta Barley's award winning "GoBarley" campaign will continue in 2014 with a nation-wide promotional tour of its new cookbook: Go Barley: Modern Recipes for an Ancient Grain.
"Barley is such a diverse ingredient, it is delicious and good for you. Plus, it doesn't get much more local than barley," said Alberta Barley's Market Development Manager and food spokesperson Linda Whitworth.
The 256-page cookbook features over 110 delicious recipes and accompanying photos. It will be available in stores April 2014 and can be pre-ordered (just in time for Christmas) at .
The cookbook announcement comes on the heels of Alberta Barley's big win in the Media Relations category at the Canadian Agri-Marketing Association awards last week for its national "GoBarley" media campaign.
The annual Best of CAMA awards program celebrates excellence in Agri-Marketing in Canada and was held at the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City on Nov. 21.
"We received media coverage in every major region in Canada," said Alberta Barley Chairman Matt Sawyer.
"This was our first full-scale promotion of food barley aimed at the Canadian consumer. The interest in barley-Canada's homegrown superfood-was tremendous."
The nation-wide media campaign was inspired by a new food claim, approved by Health Canada in 2012, which concluded daily consumption of barley helps to reduce blood cholesterol, a risk factor for heart disease.
"We developed the "GoBarley" media campaign and website to showcase food barley like never before," said Whitworth.
