New Airline at Montreal-Trudeau: Turkish Airlines to Connect Montreal and Istanbul Starting June 3, 2014
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 11/26/13 -- Aeroports de Montreal (ADM) is pleased to announce that Turkish Airlines, named Best Airline in Europe for 2013 by Skytrax, will begin operating out of Montreal-Trudeau airport starting this June 3. A Star Alliance member, Turkey's main carrier will offer three regular weekly flights to Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Turkish Airlines will use Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity for 28 passengers in business class and 261 in economy. Tickets are on sale now.
"We enthusiastically welcome Turkish Airlines, a very popular carrier among travellers, and with one of the most developed international networks anywhere," said ADM President and Chief Executive Officer James Cherry.
He added: "Montreal will now be connected year-round by direct flight with Istanbul, one of the most exciting cultural capitals, and Ataturk Airport, among the most dynamic air traffic hubs."
In addition to serving 42 domestic centres, Turkish Airlines flies to and from some 200 international destinations in more than 100 countries. Ataturk Airport is its chief connection hub with Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe (mainly the Balkans) and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Located 15 kilometres west of central Istanbul, the airport is experiencing astounding growth, having welcomed 45 million passengers in 2012, or 20% more than the previous year.
Because of its membership in Star Alliance, Turkish Airlines will benefit at Montreal-Trudeau from Air Canada's network, as well as those of United Airlines and US Airways, for connections to other points in Canada and to the United States.
