Call the Right Play This Grey Cup Weekend: Plan Ahead for a Sober Ride Home
(firmenpresse) - OAKVILLE, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/22/13 -- As fans prepare to watch the Saskatchewan Roughriders take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 101st --Canadian Football League Championship, MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada are asking everyone to have a game plan for festivities that includes a sober drive home when the revelry comes to an end this Grey Cup weekend.
"Whether you're attending the big game, watching it in a bar or going to a Grey Cup party, make the safe play if you're going to be drinking - take a cab, take public transit, arrange a designated driver or plan to stay over," said MADD Canada National President Angeliki Souranis. "Let's make sure no one is touched by the tragedy of impaired driving this weekend."
Getting behind the wheel impaired puts the driver, his or her passengers and every other person on the road at risk. Every day, on average, 4 Canadians are killed and 175 more are injured as a result of impaired driving crashes.
"When it comes to preventing impaired driving, we need everyone on the same team," said Allstate Canada President and Chief Executive Officer John O'Donnell. "Do not drive impaired, and do not let family members, friends or fellow party-goers drive impaired. If you see a driver you suspect is impaired, call 911. We all have an important role to play in making our roads and our communities safer."
