(firmenpresse) - KANSAS CITY, MO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/19/13 -- The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, in partnership with the office of Mayor Sly James of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, is hosting the first-ever Mayors Conference on Entrepreneurship on Nov. 20, 2013, beginning at 11:15 a.m. EST. Sixteen mayors and other entrepreneurship experts from around the country will share insights about promoting startup activity and discuss ways to encourage higher levels of entrepreneurship in U.S. cities.
The conference is being held in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week. It will be live streamed from 11:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. EST at .
- John Dearie and Courtney Geduldig, coauthors of Where the Jobs Are, discuss policy changes to help startup companies overcome the challenges they face.
- Keynote speaker Dane Stangler, director of research and policy at the Kauffman Foundation, releases new research on entrepreneurship at the municipal level, highlighting the resources that mayors can use in their cities.
- Ann Markusen, director of the Arts Economy Initiative and the Project on Regional and Industrial Economics at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs, discusses how cities can nurture cultural entrepreneurs.
