Browns Socialhouse Gears Up to Give Back to Local Communities With the Fourth Annual Christmas Pyjama Drive Across BC
(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/18/13 -- Browns Restaurant Group will bring tidings of comfort and joy to children in need across British Columbia this holiday season through its support of the fourth annual The Christmas Pyjama Drive.
On December 8th, during operation hours, Browns Restaurant Group is inviting all its guests to bring a new pair of pyjamas (sizes newborn to 16 years) to any of its Socialhouse locations in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan and Scotty Browns Barkley location in Washington State. The Christmas Pyjama Drive and Browns will then deliver the PJ care packages to local Christmas bureaus and charities so they can be offered to families who depend on their services in time for Santa's yearly visit. As a thank-you, Browns will offer all pyjama donors 50 per cent off their food bill during their visit.
The Christmas Pyjama Drive was born in 2010 out of a unique idea by then-six-year-old Reese Shelly, son of Browns Franchisee Todd Shelly, to help make Christmas a little brighter for disadvantaged children. With the help of family and friends, Reese collected 365 pairs of pyjamas as his father hosted the inaugural Pyjama Drive at Browns Socialhouse in Richmond. In 2011 the Pyjama Drive expanded to a second location at Browns Panorama in Surrey and between the two venues, more than 1,420 pairs were donated. In 2012, the third-annual event took yet another huge leap as all Browns locations in British Columbia - as well as Scotty Browns in Bellingham, WA - joined in the charitable venture and collected more than 2,250 sets of PJs.
The snowballing success of the community outreach initiative looks to pick up even more momentum this year, as, for the first time, The Christmas Pyjama Drive goes franchise-wide, with nearly two dozen Browns locations across Western Canada and Washington State taking part.
"Anyone who has received a pair of pyjamas when they were a kid knows how good it feels to leave some milk and cookies by the fireplace and then snuggle in for the night to wait for Santa," says Todd Shelly, who co-owns Browns Socialhouses in Richmond, New Westminster and Surrey. "This year, the need is greater than ever, and we're hoping to be able to help tuck even more children into cozy jammies for a long winter's night."
Granville Island Brewing is also jumping on board the sleigh. As part of its #YESvember promotion, the Vancouver brewery will donate ten cents from the sale of each sleeve of their Lions Winter Ale at every participating Browns Socialhouse - available for a limited time only for $5 a sleeve - to The Christmas Pyjama Drive.
