Industry Minister James Moore Announces Appointment of Samuel L. Duboc as Chair of the Business Development Bank of Canada
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/15/13 -- The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), today announced the appointment of Samuel L. Duboc as Chair of the Board of Directors of the BDC.
"Mr. Duboc has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Canada's business development community, which makes him well qualified for chairmanship of the BDC," said Minister Moore. "He has proven himself to be one of our country's foremost investment and venture capital experts, advising the Minister of Finance on the design and implementation of Canada's Venture Capital Action Plan. His passion for entrepreneurship and his leadership align well with the BDC's mission of helping create and develop successful businesses."
Mr. Duboc is completing his term as the Clifford Clark Visiting Economist at the Department of Finance Canada in order to ensure a smooth transition of his responsibilities with respect to Canada's Venture Capital Action Plan. He is the Founder, President and Managing Partner of EdgeStone Capital Partners. He previously served as Managing Director at CIBC Capital Partners and co-founded and developed Loyalty Management Group Canada Inc., owner and operator of the AIR MILES Reward Program.
An active and dedicated community member, Mr. Duboc also serves as chair for a number of not-for-profit organizations, including Pathways to Education Canada and the Pecaut Centre for Social Impact.
Mr. Duboc holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University and a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
