Edmonton Tourism launches 2013/14 winter campaign
(firmenpresse) - EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/15/13 -- Is it cold? Yes. Is there snow? Yes. Are we boring? Never. Edmonton Tourism celebrates the new winter in Edmonton with an edgy 2013/14 winter campaign from November 15 to March 31. Throughout the snowy season visitors to will enjoy outdoor patios and hot chocolate on the hill, and sure to melt the snow. Aimed at increasing regional visitation, the campaign is targeted at northern Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan markets.
"Albertans have a deep-rooted love for winter," says Maggie Davison, vice president of Edmonton Tourism. "Whether it is skating outside, learning to ski, or attending winter festivals we embrace our winters and create our own unique experiences throughout the season."
In partnership with the City of Edmonton - Winter City Strategy, Edmonton Tourism will help tell the city's winter story to visitors and residents. A newly designed website will be the information hub for shopping, the culture scene, activities, dining and more. By visiting the website people can plan a trip, share information, explore vacation packages and celebrate Edmonton as a winter travel destination.
Another new element in this year's campaign is the launch of Edmonton Tourism's profile. Visitors and Edmontonians can capture their favourite winter moments and tag them using . Images tagged and submitted may be used in future marketing initiatives and will also be entered into an contest for the duration of the campaign.
"Edmonton Tourism has shifted its marketing approach recognizing that the online and social spaces are integral to engaging visitors," says Davison. "We are excited to launch our new website alongside our new Instagram profile. Our goal is to help tell Edmonton's and we can share those unique and interesting stories through our social media channels and on the website."
Davison says, "We want people to embrace winter, to get outside and play. Below zero is when the magic begins and it's time we stop apologizing for the season but rather get out there and enjoy it."
That is the message Edmonton Tourism will convey through this creative campaign.
The winter campaign is a successful partnership between the City of Edmonton, Edmonton's Destination Marketing Hotels, Edmonton Tourism, and Travel Alberta.
