SavATree Consulting Group Assists Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt
(firmenpresse) - BEDFORD HILLS, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 11/14/13 -- The Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum has looked to the Consulting Group at SavATree for tree and shrub management during construction and renovations. The museum, located on Fifth Avenue's Museum Mile and housed in the former residence of Andrew Carnegie, is a New York City and National Landmark.
SavATree was brought in by Diller, Scofidio and Renfro Architects to consult on minimizing tree damage during the replacement of existing walkways and the installation of new ones. The scope of work included performing a general health and risk assessment for all existing trees, including recommendations for removal, support systems, and insect or disease treatments.
SavATree was also asked to provide guidance for improving tree health as well as recommendations for future plantings. Of note, Cooper-Hewitt is particularly interested in maintaining the wisteria that distinguishes the front of the building, originally planted at the behest of Andrew Carnegie in 1902.
