At the Sathorn Vista, Bangkok - Marriott Executive Apartments, Seeing the Forest Starts With Planting the Trees

(firmenpresse) - BANGKOK, THAILAND -- (Marketwired) -- 11/13/13 -- Tree-hugging may have gotten a bad rap once upon a time, but the Sathorn Vista, Bangkok - Marriott Executive Apartments is laying firmly to rest any such negativity. As climate change continues to wreak its havoc on the globe, and as Thailand continues to recover from its 2004 tsunami, these elegant Bangkok accommodations are quietly going about making the world a cleaner, greener place by restoring the country's mangrove forests.

Planting mangroves is more than just a goodwill effort. Not only do Thailand's mangrove forests serve as a haven for biodiversity and carbon collection, they also protect the coastline from severe storms and sea-level rise. Over the past 40 years, more than half of the country's mangroves have been destroyed, and this is partnering with International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to reverse the damage.

As part of Marriott's Spirit to Preserve initiative, the partnership between IUCN and the hotel enjoys several outlets. For starters, the hotel helps fund local community efforts at mangrove restoration. By empowering locals to spearhead reforestation, the hotel works to carry out the second of its initiatives: help create small businesses in local communities that produce sustainable souvenirs for hotel guests. Beyond that, IUCN helps Marriott connect with sustainable sources of seafood for use in hotel restaurants.

Guests can contribute to the reforestation efforts by making a donation of 30 THB per night while staying at these luxurious . Though they may not see firsthand the flourishing mangroves they help fund, they can walk just 10 minutes to Lumpini Park to recognize just how vital green space is to the quality of life. The 142-acre Lumpini Park is known as Bangkok's "Green Lung" thanks to the lush forest surrounding the massive, manmade lake; and it is frequented by city dwellers in search of fresh air, nature and exercise.

After contributing to a cause as critically important to Thailand and the world as reforestation, guests can enjoy their spacious suites, stylish public spaces and productive meeting rooms with a gratifying sense of mutual benefit.

Situated in the heart of Thailand's capital city, the five-star Sathorn Vista, Bangkok - Marriott Executive Apartments simultaneously removes guests from the bustle below its 32 floors while providing every advantage of an urban location. Guests are just steps away from embassies, shopping, entertainment and nightlife, while the BTS Skytrain -- Bangkok's transportation lifeline -- is within walking distance. Business travelers may not have time to sightsee, but the hotel ensures their experience is just as enchanting with its intimate meeting room and less conventional event spaces like the Residents Lounge and pool. When it comes to recreation, guests are invited to use the fitness center, saltwater pool, children's pool, sauna and game room. And, at the end of the day, everyone can anticipate retiring to spacious one- to three-bedroom apartment suites, all of which are outfitted with fully equipped kitchens, LCD televisions and laundry facilities. Dining, meanwhile, takes a decidedly diverse turn, thanks to options like MoMo café with its international buffet, and the Residents Lounge where guests can sip cocktails and savor appetizers. With 24-hour staffing, contemporary aesthetics and an unbeatable location, this five-star property lets visitors explore Bangkok from a truly luxurious vantage point.
