Minister Ritz Announces Appointments to Farm Credit Canada

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/08/13 -- Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz today announced the appointment of Mr. Jamie Muir and Mr. Collin May to the Board of Directors of Farm Credit Canada (FCC).

"Mr. Muir and Mr. May have a vast amount of experience and skills which will help the FCC Board of Directors continue to represent the interests of the Canadian agriculture and business communities" said Minister Ritz.

Biographical Note

Jamie Muir

Jamie (James) Muir is a former Minister of Finance in the province of Nova Scotia. As Minister of Finance, Mr. Muir had oversight over several crown corporations. From 1999 to 2009, he held various positions including Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Minister of Health, Minister of Education and Minister of Finance. Mr. Muir is a graduate of Dalhousie University where he received his Bachelor of Arts and his Bachelor of Education. He completed his education at the University of Virginia when he received his Masters of Education and his Doctorate of Education. He is an educator who began his lengthy career of public service as an instructor with Frontier College in 1959. He held various positions in the field of education until he was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia for the Constituency of Truro-Bible Hill in 1998.





Collin May

Collin May is a corporate/commercial and financial services lawyer and associate with the Calgary office of Miller Thomson, practising in the areas of securities law, private equity, agricultural law, banking and finance. Mr. May is a Member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Alberta. Originally from southern Alberta, Mr. May received his post-secondary education in Canada, the United States and France.
