REMINDER/Media Advisory: PIPSC 94th Annual General Meeting Will Take Place This Week on November 8 and 9, 2013
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/08/13 -- In some 72 hours after the Conservative Party of Canada adopted its most anti-union stance/positions ever seen for the public service domain at its Biennal convention last weekend in Calgary, the largest union representing professionals working for the federal government will hold its 94th Annual General Meeting.
Since it last AGM, PIPSC is forced to acknowledge a highly challenging environment, where government had a constant pre-occupation of undermining workers laws, ignoring provisions in collective bargaining, shrinking its public science and public services, all of it in the name of deficit and red tape reduction. This year AGM is even more important as a majority of PIPSC groups will see the collective agreement expired in 2014.
Accountability, transparency and democracy are going to be the lead principles motivating this year discussions, where participants are going to learn from the mouth of Kevin Page, former Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) how these values can be integrated within PS. And union democracy will talk as members will have to debate and vote on dues increase to support ... and have the chance to take part of the President debate as later in December members will vote to elect their President.
The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) will hold its 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 8 and 9, 2013 at the Delta City Centre in Ottawa.
Starting at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 8, PIPSC members will be presented the lead initiative PIPSC has developed to support public services to Canadians.
The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada represents some 55,000 professionals and scientists across Canada's public sector.
