Clustrix Supports Twoo.com's More Than 4.4 Billion Transactions a Day With Linear Scale

Twoo.com, founded in 2010, is the most trafficked social discovery site in the world, and runs its entire application on a single scale-out Clustrix database, allowing it to support millions of complex user interactions a day.
ClustrixDB, the industry's first and only scale-out database for real-time analytics on live operational data, enabled Twoo.com to grow its application's capacity while at the same time allowing Twoo.com to store user information and enact matchmaking queries all on the same database. As a result, Twoo.com never had to hard code their application for database sharding, making it simpler and cheaper to maintain.
"Before Clustrix, we were working with a single MySQL server and we found we were spending a majority of our time optimizing for performance and scale," said Toon Coppens, CTO and co-founder of Twoo.com. "With ClustrixDB, we no longer run into scaling issues. As we need capacity, we simply add nodes and see linear growth. As a result, we've been able to grow from a 3-node cluster to a 21-node cluster."
Aside from adding capacity, a critical requirement for Twoo.com is being able to deliver complex queries in split-second response times, typical of most social applications. With an original goal of delivering a query in less than 40 milliseconds, ClustrixDB was able to deliver an average query time of 5-6 milliseconds.
"Sharded and NoSQL databases are unable to provide real-time analytics capabilities, and oftentimes, the data they deliver is inconsistent and incorrect," said Robin Purohit, CEO of Clustrix.
