The AQT Joins its Counterparts Across Canada by Adding a Quebec Chapter to the Canadian Tech Job Expo
A new way to recruit local and international talent in an innovative, effective and economical format
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 11/06/13 -- The Quebec Technology Association (AQT) is joining the British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA), Communitech (industry association in the region of Waterloo, Ontario) and the Information and Communication Technologies Association of Manitoba (ICTAM) by creating a Quebec chapter within the Canadian Tech Job Expo. Mindful of the recruitment challenges its members face, the AQT aims to address an important need in the recruitment of specialized resources through an innovative "virtual" job fair, which would provide participants with access to candidates located in Quebec, across Canada and even abroad.
By enabling direct interactions between job seekers and employers on November 26 and by providing access to all candidate profiles for a period of one month following the Expo, this virtual event offers all the benefits, if not more, of a traditional job fair, but without the inconveniences and costs related to equipment and travel.
Following BCTIA's and Communitech's huge successes in the last two editions of the Expo, the AQT is proud to be part of this year's event and offer its members this exclusive opportunity. According to the AQT's 2013 Competitiveness Barometer, member respondents (450 ICT SMEs comprising of 4 to 500 employees) stated that they hired staff in the last year (96%), have had significant challenges in filling key technology positions (38%) and plan to hire through immigration channels (33%).
Given this climate, the Canadian Tech Job Expo is a new and effective tactic that members can include in their recruitment strategy. The event is a unique opportunity for employers to connect with a pool of qualified resources in Quebec or those abroad interested in coming to work here at a time when ICT businesses have been facing labour shortages for several years. It also enables employers to capitalize on the availability of skilled resources in times of important economic changes in the market (for example, following layoffs at BlackBerry).
The Canadian Tech Job Expo is being held on November 26 from 12 pm to 6 pm. AQT members can register as of now at the attractive rate of $300. Job seeking professionals wishing to register and complete a candidate profile may do so free of charge. For more detailed information, please visit the AQT website:
