New Website for CEOs, Business Transition Academy, Offers Help Planning Exit Strategy
(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/31/13 -- Two business owners who specialize in helping CEOs plan and execute their business ownership transitions have launched a new website of self-help resources, Business Transition Academy ().
The site is a companion to Kathleen Richardson-Mauro and Jane M. Johnson's new book, "Cashing Out of Your Business: Your Last Great Deal." The practical guide walks CEOs through the questions to ask themselves long before they plan to pass along or sell their business; how to put the pieces in place for future financial security; putting a value on the business; and negotiating a business sale or transfer, among other topics.
Richardson-Mauro and Johnson, who are both Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisors and Business Exit Consultants, are also merging their respective businesses in order to combine forces to help the burgeoning numbers of soon-to-retire boomer CEOs.
"We were both entrepreneurs who'd seen too many people sell their businesses only to realize they'd made critical mistakes that left them emotionally or financially destitute instead of happily retired," says Richardson-Mauro. "There was nowhere CEOs could go for holistic advice that takes all the aspects of their transition into account."
The two began collaborating as exit-planning consultants three years ago and developed a training course specifically for owners who want to move on and cash in on some of the wealth trapped inside their businesses.
Johnson, who received the Excellence in Exit Planning Award from Pinnacle Equity Solutions, was CEO of Waypoint Business Strategies, and Richardson-Mauro led Business Transition Solutions. Their new company is Richardson-Mauro & Johnson, Inc. ().
"Many small business owners can't afford to hire someone to help them with exit planning, so we wanted to provide tools," says Johnson. "We've developed low-cost training webinars, and we hope to reach even more people through our book and the Business Transition Academy website."
The website's resources include training courses, articles and whitepapers, a business assessment, and videos, among other materials.
Kathleen Richardson-Mauro, CFP, CBEC, CM&AA, CBI, has owned and operated five small companies and has successfully assisted more than 150 business owners in achieving their transition goals. Jane Johnson, CPA, CBEC, CM&AA, owned her own business that she exited successfully in 2007. She has been providing advisory services to business owners on how to plan and execute successful ownership transitions since that time.
