New Fair Trade Divine Chocolates Available Exclusively at Whole Foods Market(R)
Dark and Milk Chocolate Mixed Nuts and Dark Chocolate Sun-Dried Apricots Join Line of Delicious Offerings From Divine
(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwired) -- 10/29/13 -- Divine Chocolate, the premium chocolate brand owned by the farmers of Kuapa Kokoo in Ghana, is thrilled to introduce two new delicious Fair Trade chocolate products exclusively with Whole Foods Market. Packaged in cheerful cathedral boxes, the and will be carried nationally in Whole Foods Market and will begin hitting store shelves this fall just in time for the Holidays.
These products represent a unique collaboration between Divine Chocolate and Whole Foods Market to create opportunities for Fair Trade producers of dried fruits and nuts who normally have limited access to the US marketplace.
(Suggested retail price: $6.99) - Tangy sun-dried apricots from the Mountain Fruits cooperative are enrobed in Divine's critically-acclaimed 70% dark chocolate. (3.5 oz box). Income from Fair Trade apricot production and drying improves incomes for farmers in the remote Hunza and Karakoum regions or Northern Pakistan.
(Suggested retail price: $6.99) - Caramelized Fair Trade almonds, cashews and brazil nuts are enrobed in Divine's rich dark chocolate and creamy milk chocolate. The nuts are supplied by Liberation Foods, a Fair Trade-certified company based in the UK and co-owned by small holder farmers cooperatives (3.5 oz box).
Divine Chocolate USA was awarded Whole Foods Market's Whole Trade® Guarantee Ethical Sourcing Award earlier this year for "its leadership in ethical sourcing and use of Fair Trade-certified ingredients."
"Divine Chocolate has been a true model for producing responsible chocolate," said Dwight Richmond, global grocery purchasing coordinator for Whole Foods Market. "These two new Fair Trade offerings are sure to deliver fun, seasonal flavors that our shoppers can really feel good about enjoying and sharing with their family and friends."
At the heart of Divine's heavenly tasting chocolate is a unique story. Lovingly grown under the shade of the rainforest canopy in Ghana, the cocoa beans used by Divine Chocolate are hand-harvested, slow-fermented and carefully dried by the family farmers of the Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Cooperative, who co-own the company. While Fair Trade ensures farmers receive a better deal for their cocoa and additional income to invest in their community, company ownership gives farmers a share of Divine's profits and a stronger voice in the cocoa industry.
