Half-Day Conference Produced by Y&R Sparkplug's GrownUpMarketing to Equip Start-Ups With Ammunition to Succeed
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 10/28/13 -- Y&R (Y&R Advertising and VML) announced today that on Tuesday, October 29, it will sponsor a , a half-day conference via its Sparkplug (innovation incubator) program, with some of the best minds in the industry. Produced by Sparkplug's GrownUpMarketing (GUM), the afternoon will aim to equip start-ups with the information and tools they need to build and grow their companies.
Technology start-ups are often founded by providing answers to business problems. But, who do the people running these start-ups go to when they're the ones asking the questions? That's the challenge the founders of GrownUpMarketing are hoping to help solve with Y&R's Boot Camp for Digital Start-Ups.
"We're a 90-year-old start-up and we love embracing a company that is 90-days-old," said David Sable, Global CEO of Y&R. "At Y&R, there is a real dedication to taking on start-up companies and culture. We have a broad innovation agenda, and our Sparkplug program is one way we're pushing it forward. Issues and topics that start-ups face most often, such as, finding more funding, hiring the right people, working with agencies and their clients, getting noticed without going broke and going from a start-up to a "real" business will form the crux of the in New York.
"We basically work with digital start-ups and we help them tell their story to advertisers, agencies and brands," said Shelly Lipton, who with in 2010. "So this boot camp is really an extension of that. A lot of these start-ups are founded by developers who are smart and have really good instincts. They know there's a lot they don't know, and they know they need to look to trusted advisors for direction and support."
Panelists among the all-star line-up will include Jack Haber, VP Global Advertising & Digital for Colgate Palmolive, Marc Fischman, CEO and Co-Founder of Hyperactivate, a Y&R Sparkplug company and Jeff Pulver, Co-Founder, Zula and VoIP provider Vonage.
The Sparkplug is a Y&R program that was founded in 2011, which offers office space to interesting start-ups and idea generators that have some track record and lots more promise. In return, Y&R gets access to new ways of thinking, an introduction to innovative technologies, opportunities to forge productive new partnerships -- all of which gives its clients the critical innovation to engaging consumers and delivering results.
Y&R currently has 10 offices that host Sparkplug programs, 15 companies involved around the world, and it continues to expand.
