Gateway links CAN busses via Ethernet
(PresseBox) - With the release of the PCAN-Ethernet Gateway DR, PEAK-System launches a new product family. The PCAN-Gateways allow the connection of different CAN busses over IP networks. CAN frames are wrapped in TCP or UDP message packets and are then forwarded via the IP net from one device to the other. The configuration of the devices is done via a comfortable web interface. Besides a variety of status information, settings for the device itself, for the communication interfaces, and for message routing are provided.
The PCAN-Ethernet Gateway DR has a LAN interface and two High-speed CAN channels with a bit rate of up to 1 Mbit/s. By the extended operating temperature range of -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F) and the plastic housing for mounting on a DIN rail, the PCAN-Ethernet Gatway DR is suitable for use in industrial environments.
In future, the product family will be complemented by WLAN-capable gateways and by compatible gateway software for PCs.
