Frontiers North Adventures today announced the launch of its new, free app which gives visitors to Churchill access to the locals' knowledge on their iPhones, iPods and iPads. The handy smart phone app gives travellers inside knowledge about off-the-map attractions while bringing them even closer to subarctic wildlife and culture. It shares detailed information on everything from where to eat to why the northern lights glow. Best of all, the app gives visitors an easy way to record every interaction they have with wildlife for sharing and reminiscing later.
"We've created a very easy to use app that serves as a guidebook to Churchill and also gives travellers an elegant way to memorialize their visit," said John Gunter, President and CEO of Frontiers North Adventures. "Seeing a polar bear up close for the first time is an amazing experience. Our guests love to share these encounters with their friends and family back home."
The Churchill Travel Guide allows visitors to create journal entries about every wildlife sighting or attraction. These entries are easily shared via social networks such as Facebook or Twitter, or sent home by email. At the end of their trip, visitors will have a personalized record of their experiences.
Frontiers North Adventures engaged Winnipeg digital media firm Tactica Interactive to create the app, which is the only one of its kind for Churchill. It contains a comprehensive guide including detailed records for plant, mammal and bird wildlife, attractions in and around the town, accommodations and dining, as well as information about local shopping and essential services.
