Health Canada wishes to inform Canadians that seized natural health products being sold by were tested and found to contain hidden ingredients and unauthorized substances similar to the prescription drug, sildenafil.
Approved products that contain sildenafil can only be sold with a prescription and by a pharmacy. These unauthorized products are being added to the list of products sold by this retailer that may pose a serious risk to health.
Who is affected:
Canadians who have purchased or used these products, particularly people with heart problems.
What consumers should do:

- Report any adverse reaction potentially related to these products to .
- Contact Health Canada's toll-free line at 1-800-267-9675 with questions or complaints about these products.
What Health Canada is doing:
Health Canada has seized these products from sale and has informed Lion King Health Enterprises that unauthorized health products cannot be sold in Canada.
Background:
Sildenafil is a prescription medication that should only be used under the supervision of a health care practitioner. Products containing sildenafil or unauthorized substances similar to sildenafil (known as analogs) should never be used by individuals taking any kind of nitrate drug (e.g. nitroglycerine) as it can cause potentially life-threatening low blood pressure.
Individuals with heart problems including high blood pressure, a history of heart attack, stroke, abnormal heart beat or chest pain are at higher risk of cardiovascular side-effects if they engage in sexual activity, especially if they use sildenafil to help them achieve an erection. Other possible side-effects of using sildenafil include headache, facial flushing, indigestion, dizziness, abnormal vision and hearing loss.
Health Canada has been testing a number of seized products that were being sold by Lion King Health Enterprises, Richmond, B.C. and will continue to provide updates to Canadians as warranted.
