Call of Duty Actor Developing "Nam Zombies" Film Franchise

(firmenpresse) - LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/16/13 -- James C. Burns, widely known for his role as Sgt. Frank Woods in Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 & 2, has written a live action zombie film set during the Vietnam war to be produced by Icewater Productions.
Nam Zombies is the story of a covert Special Forces team that encounters the "undead" while on a questionable mission deep in the jungle. With a massive following from the gaming community, this project was on the express track for traditional film financing, but Burns opted for what he calls a "fan sourced" option.
"Nam Zombies" is inspired by the fans, will be made by fans, for the fans. Using a grassroots funding approach, Burns hopes to inspire a pledge of one dollar (US) from 1.5 million people. The idea is to spread interest and enthusiasm in the project by making it accessible to everyone. For a buck, not only do you raise the budget to make the film, you've also created the audience to come see it.
The most attractive aspect of "fan" inclusion is the plan to invite fans to submit music and art to be considered for use in the movie. Additionally, several roles have been ear-marked for casting exclusively from the fan base. "Not only do we want the community to support this project we want them to feel connected to it. Wouldn't it be great if a musician or artist got their big break from this project! Wouldn't it be great for a kid to be able to walk into their school or work, or anywhere and say that they just backed a zombie movie?"
There is an opportunity to empower a lot of people here, but the biggest challenge is to convince people that their pledge actually matters. That a single dollar make a difference. It's like a vote, it matters! "Fan sourcing" is empowerment! It's about individuals believing they can make a difference and having an opportunity to do so.
