Senator Percy Mockler Presents 2012 Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence to Mr. Rufin Doiron
(firmenpresse) - CARAQUET, NEW BRUNSWICK -- (Marketwired) -- 10/11/13 -- Senator Percy Mockler, on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today presented Mr. Rufin Doiron of Caraquet with a 2012 Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence.
"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I am pleased to present the Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence to Mr. Rufin Doiron for his remarkable contribution to The Comite du Port de Caraquet Inc., said Senator Mockler. "Small craft harbours create jobs in coastal communities and provide facilities that meet the needs of commercial fishermen. Our Government is proud to support harbour authorities through important investments and by recognizing their work. "
Mr. Doiron received the Prix d'Excellence in the category of "National Individual Commitment" for his devotion to the ongoing success of The Comite du Port de Caraquet Inc. and his outstanding support to the Harbour Authority Program.
During his employment with The Comite du Port de Caraquet Inc., Mr. Doiron was Harbour Manager. In that position, he was instrumental in establishing rules of conduct and procedures to ensure safety and good environmental practices at the harbour. He played a significant role in strengthening the Harbour Authority's financial position through diversification and innovative socio-economic initiatives.
Skilled in many areas, Mr. Doiron supervised and inspected many of the repair projects in addition to working as a principal contractor for minor repairs at the harbour. He became a role model for harbour managers elsewhere as a result of his hard work while generously offering help and advice to other Harbour Authorities.
"I am very honoured to receive this recognition," said Mr. Doiron. "This award is the culmination of nearly three decades of service I devoted to the development of the Caraquet Harbour Authority. I wish to thank The Comite du Port de Caraquet Inc. and the Small Craft Harbours Program for their support and collaboration in this regard. The Prix d'Excellence is awarded annually to celebrate the exemplary contributions made by Harbour Authorities in meeting the objectives of Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Small Craft Harbours Program. The award recognizes teams and individuals who have made significant contributions to their harbours and their communities.
