A new look on the roads – LGI modernizes its fleet
Herrenberg, October 10, 2013 – Logistics Group International GmbH (LGI) is pleased to announce the modernization of its fleet. The firm will soon operate 14 redesigned trailers that promise to change the look on the region's roads. The new trailers are already in use between LGI headquarters in Böblingen (southwest Germany) and several customer sites in the region surrounding Stuttgart.
(firmenpresse) - LGI has operated its own fleet of vehicles for customers since 2012. But now a new approach to loading trailers requires modernization of the fleet. "Speed curtains" manufactured by Schmitz Cargobull employ special technology that permits loading from the side. "The new trailers are equipped with a special feature that allows any driver to open or close the side panels within 35 seconds. We used to need four to five minutes for this," according to Bernhard Jung, Division Manager Transportation at LGI. "With more than 200 loading and unloading operations each day, we save more than two hours per day. Now this time can be put to much more productive use. Since the process occurs so much faster, employees are more comfortable using it and the drivers are more satisfied. It's a true win-win."
"Our other employees have also given us a great deal of positive feedback about the new design," according to Mr. Jung. "It is nice to see how they identify with the company when they see one of our trucks on the road. I share this feeling with them. Whenever I see an LGI trailer, I always feel a bit of pride."
