Latest Meet the Artists Collaboration Brings Contemporary Artworks to the Public

(firmenpresse) - EMERYVILLE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/08/13 -- As part of its ongoing mission to offer unprecedented access to emerging and contemporary artists and their artwork, , the world's largest online destination dedicated to experiencing and buying art, today introduced "Art.com Now and Juxtapoz," the third iteration of its Meet the Artists series. Juxtapoz Magazine, the contemporary art publication devoted to surfacing the most dynamic, unconventional and innovative art being produced today, personally curated the exclusive collection for Art.com. This collaboration provides art lovers with access to exclusive works available for purchase on Art.com by five contemporary, burgeoning artists: , , , , and .

"We created Meet the Artists to give art enthusiasts an intimate look at contemporary artwork rarely seen outside galleries," said Ivy Ross, Chief Marketing Officer of Art.com Inc. "We couldn't be more excited about the five artists Juxtapoz selected to inspire our customers."

Art.com Now and Juxtapoz gives consumers an inside look at the following featured artists:

Many of Bates' illustrations are colorful depictions of the Greek gods. He has directed and participated in numerous crossover projects, exhibitions and endeavors rooted in the promotion of positive artistic expression, the development of young artists, environmental conservation and cross-cultural exchange.

Hirata's artwork is inspired by nature, music, the hand-painted signage of Southeast Asia and futurism. His paintings, drawings and films provide glimpses into an entire universe that he has created.

Drawing heavily upon a passion for storytelling developed during childhood, Plock's work showcases an array of surreal characters explored in his imagination and nods to his love and admiration for traditional Japanese woodblock prints. Plock is married to artist Kelly Tunstall, who is also featured in this series.

: Working in acrylic, collage, spray paint, pencil, pen and ink, gold leaf and a "secret sauce," Tunstall's experimental yet classically grounded works live in a space between graphic expression, stylized representation, surrealism and sketch.

As an illustrator and artist with experience designing artwork for advertising campaigns, Wagner's work regularly appears in publications such as the New York Times Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, Esquire and WIRED Magazine.

"Contemporary art is often stereotyped as difficult and, at times, people feel intimated finding an entry point," says Evan Pricco, Editor-in-Chief of Juxtapoz. "Teaming with Art.com allows for five artists with different styles and backgrounds to be recognized. If it helps make art a little less intimidating -- if it helps shine a light on artists who are living and breathing today and creating great work -- then it makes our 20 years of documenting 'the now' successful and rewarding."

Art.com's first Meet the Artists series launched in January 2013. Art.com Now and Juxtapoz represents Art.com's continued commitment to showcasing exciting and groundbreaking contemporary art each quarter.

Get to know the five artists in Art.com Now and Juxtapoz by visiting and stay tuned for the opportunity to see their works in person this fall in San Francisco.
