CodeREADr to Debut NFC Asset Tracking Technology During the Medtrade Conference (Oct. 8-10) at the Cellotape Booth (#1337) Where Cellotape Will Offer Sample NFC Tags for Evaluation

(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/07/13 -- Skycore LLC, developers of , the iOS and Android barcode scanning app designed for business applications, will tomorrow debut at the Conference their technology to securely track and authenticate HME assets, dispensed medications and home care visits using NFC-enabled smartphones and tablets.

Demonstrations of the codeREADr app and integrated, cloud-based Web service will be given from Oct. 8-10 at the Cellotape booth (#1337). , an innovative printing company that provides custom labels, overlays and nameplates, will offer sample NFC tags for test and evaluation purposes at the booth.

The codeREADr app reads NFC tag's unique ID (UID) and simultaneously records the GPS location and capture type. By recording the capture type, service providers know the data captured was specifically from an NFC tag's UID as opposed to manual entry, barcode scan or other data capture type.

"When authenticating an NFC tag's UID and capture type, service providers know the captured ID wasn't from a fraudulent source, such as a copied barcode, or manually input by the app user. Though most clients are satisfied with scanning barcodes, certain applications require the additional measure of security NFC affords," said Rich Eicher, CEO of Skycore LLC.

"By enabling smartphones and tablets to collect data, whether through barcodes or NFC tags, service providers can now empower their home caregivers, auditors and technicians to electronically capture field data and process it on cloud-based or local servers," added Eicher.

Service providers can use iOS and Android devices for scanning barcodes with the codeREADr app but currently only NFC-enabled Android devices for reading NFC tags.
