(firmenpresse) - NORTH VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/29/13 -- Today, Andrew Saxton, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for North Vancouver, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced support for improvements to the Seymour River Hatchery and Education Centre under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
"Our Government is committed to creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity in our communities across Canada," said Parliamentary Secretary Saxton. "By making this investment in upgrading the Seymour River Hatchery and Education Centre, we are helping to boost economic activity and maintain a high quality of life for residents of North Vancouver."
The Harper Government's investment of $112,300 supported the Seymour Salmonid Society to upgrade the Seymour River Hatchery and Education Centre with a new roof and skylight. Improvements were also made to salmon ponds and the equipment shed.
"The improvements will ensure that the Seymour River Hatchery can continue to offer vital community services well into the future," said Matt Casselman, Vice President of the Seymour Salmonid Society.
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund. The Fund supports projects that look to improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
