Edmonton High School Helps MADD Canada Launch New School Assembly Program
(firmenpresse) - OAKVILLE, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/26/13 -- What do you do when a friend is so drunk or so high that he or she makes an awful decision that puts lives at risk? Students across the country will have the chance to consider that question when they view Smashed, MADD Canada's 2013-2014 School Assembly Program.
The Smashed tour to schools across Canada is being highlighted on October 1 with a special screening for students and staff at Cardinal Leger Junior High School in Edmonton. The event is presented in partnership with the program's National Sponsors: Allstate Insurance Company of Canada and RTL-Westcan.
Media are welcome to attend the launch and speak with special guests, students and school staff.
Smashed depicts a fictional account of friends who ditch a school dance in favour of a house party. Natalie drinks heavily and isn't thinking clearly when she decides to accompany a very impaired Johnny on a trip to buy pot. Pete desperately tries to stop Natalie from getting into the car with Johnny, but she won't listen. Pete and Kelly call 911 and then follow their friend in Kelly's car. Moments later, cars are crumpled and young lives are lost as one terrible decision causes a lifetime of grief and guilt.
Teens and young adults are at significantly increased risk for impaired driving crashes. MADD Canada's School Assembly Program aims to get young people thinking about the dangers of impaired driving and the need to protect themselves and their friends by taking precautions before their night begins.
