Bargain Prices for Waterfront Land Attracting Strong Interest from Canadians

Beyond price, Point Roberts has a lot of other pluses including quick access, (no ferries are required), a very low crime rate, cheaper prices for food and alcohol, an 18-hole golf course and a 900-boat marina. Point Roberts also has a more favourable climate than Vancouver's, with more sunshine and less annual rainfall. The rural community, home to about 1,300 permanent residents, has the relaxed country lifestyle feel that cottage owners look for, yet shopping and medical services are just a few minutes drive away in Tsawwassen.
It explains why, since July when Seabright Farm opened for preview tours, hundreds of Canadians have made the quick trip across the famously quiet Pt. Roberts international border crossing, located less than 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
Lyle says more than 100 people have pre-registered so far, and are waiting to commit to the sale of the lots and cottages, following approval from Whatcom County, which is expected this fall.
The environmentally harmonious properties include the option to engage the well-known and respected Whatcom County construction firm H. B. Hansen to build a beautiful customized cottage from Seabright-specific designs, starting from $200,000.
The 62-acre farm property, settled in the last century by Icelandic immigrants, will include on-site food farming and a new community barn that will serve as a neighbourhood centre for gatherings, arts and culture.
