Value Partners Investments Inc. Announces Proposed Changes to VPI Canadian Income Pool and VPI Canadian Equity Pool
(firmenpresse) - WINNIPEG, MANITOBA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/20/13 -- Value Partners Investments Inc., the manager of VPI Canadian Income Pool and VPI Canadian Equity Pool (the "Pools"), announced today its proposal to change the investment objectives of the Pools. Value Partners will seek the approval of unitholders of the Pools for these changes at special meetings to be held on or about November 27, 2013. If unitholder approval is obtained, the changes to the investment objectives will be effective on or about December 2, 2013, and it is expected that there will be changes to the Pools' investment strategies to reflect the changes to the investment objectives. Value Partners is proposing these changes to provide more flexibility in the management of the Pools in order to enhance value for unitholders.
The proposed change to the investment objectives of VPI Canadian Income Pool is to emphasize that the Pool's focus will be on the preservation of capital while investing in securities that provide a reasonable level of income and the potential for long-term capital growth, and to provide the Pool with flexibility to invest in fixed income and equity securities that pay income without any geographic restrictions. If the change to the investment objectives is approved, the Pool's name will change to VPI Income Pool.
The proposed change to the investment objectives of VPI Canadian Equity Pool is to permit the Pool to invest in securities outside of Canada, and the Pool will have the flexibility to invest up to 30% of its assets in non-Canadian securities. The Pool will retain its focus on Canadian securities and will remain a Canadian equity fund.
Full details about the proposed changes will be outlined in an information circular to be provided to unitholders of the Pools in October 2013.
