Torontonians are bracing for a contentious dialogue during the meeting and Artik aims to propel the conversation beyond the timelines of what the formal public consultation process may allow by supporting the conversation on both sides of the debate within the community.
This public consultation process was sparked by applications to extend the runway at Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport to support the deployment of larger, jet-powered aircraft that will employ "whisper" technology.
"As residents or businesses, we will all be impacted by the outcome of this issue, be it negatively or positively," said Saul Nir, owner of Artik.
"It's important that everyone participates in this conversation and has their voice heard," Nir said.
Artik Toronto is recognized for its community involvement by supporting local culture. As the epicentre of community campaigns such as the free 'I love TTC' buttons that promoted reconciliation between the TTC and the public in the wake of a 2010 incident involving a worker whose conduct had been photographed and was not widely approved, Artik's initiatives patience and emphasizes humanism within the community.
