TeraXion and the National Research Council's Canadian Photonic Fabrication Center Announce a Strategic Partnership
(firmenpresse) - QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 09/12/13 -- - TeraXion Inc., a leader in the design and manufacturing of optical components and modules, and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) announce today a strategic partnership which will lead to the development and fabrication of TeraXion's new modulator products family and covers its next-generation Indium Phosphide high-speed modulators for coherent transmission systems at 100 Gb/s and beyond. Work will take place at NRC's Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre in Ottawa.

"The new modulator concept will use a proprietary design to achieve world record low power consumption as well as reaching very high modulation speeds necessary for 100 Gb/s and above transmission," said Ian Woods, Vice-President InP Platform at TeraXion Inc. "In addition, the form factor of this modulator will be ten times smaller than the competing technologies available today."

TeraXion's team has previously demonstrated qualified products and so have a strong pedigree and credibility when it comes to modulator product development. Among the catalysts for this TeraXion-NRC partnership are the close geographical location of both partners and the strong photonic eco-system present in the Ottawa region which will contribute to forging a strong and highly effective partnership.
