IBIA Announces September 16, 2013 Annual Reception and Its Active Participation at the Biometric Consortium Conference 2013

(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwired) -- 09/12/13 -- The International Biometrics & Identification Association (IBIA) announced today its annual reception during the Biometric Consortium Conference (BCC) and that several prominent IBIA members have key speaking roles at the conference next week in Tampa, Florida.

Sponsored by IBIA member companies 3M Cogent (NYSE: MMM), BIO-key (OTCBB: BKYI), findBiometrics, Cross Match Technologies, Lumidigm, and Morpho (Safran Group) the IBIA will hold its annual reception Monday, September 16, 2013 at 5:00 PM at the Tampa Museum of Art. Mr. Michael Barrett, president of Fast Identity Online (FIDO), will present remarks on "Freedom from Passwords." IBIA speakers at the BCC include Dr. Joseph Atick, Mr. Walter Hamilton, and Ms. Tovah LaDier. IBIA co-founder and Director Emeritus, and renowned pioneer in biometrics and facial recognition, Dr. Atick will deliver the keynote address on Wednesday, September 18th. His address, entitled "Identity: The Next Frontiers," will present a vision of the changing role of identity in society and will highlight the opportunities that are expected to emerge for those who seek to manage it responsibly.

Mr. Hamilton, IBIA vice chairman and senior consultant of IDTP, Inc., is scheduled to participate as a panel speaker during the opening session, Tuesday, September 17th. Mr. Hamilton will also participate in panel discussions focused on commercial applications of biometrics.

IBIA managing director Ms. LaDier will speak on "The Tenacity of Misperceptions" on a panel on Thursday, September 19th, focusing on public perceptions of biometrics.
