More Successes for "Wanted by the CBSA": Results Continue to Roll in for Successful Program
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 09/11/13 -- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) today announced three removals of persons on the "Wanted by the CBSA" Web site.
On August 13, the CBSA successfully removed Joleen Kelly Patterson from Canada. Patterson, who was found to be inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality for having been convicted of importing a controlled substance, was originally arrested in June 2013 in Toronto.
Later in the month, on August 31, the CBSA removed Clive Moore from Canada. Moore, who was found to be inadmissible to Canada, has been convicted of offences outside of Canada that, if committed in Canada, would constitute an offence under Canadian law. Having been previously deported to Guyana from the United States, where he has convictions for trafficking narcotics, burglary, trespass, and larceny, Moore was arrested in Hamilton on July 24, 2013.
On September 5, the CBSA removed Luis Fernando Rodriguez Hurtado from Canada. Rodriguez Hurtado was found to be inadmissible to Canada for having been convicted of an offence outside of Canada that, if committed in Canada, would constitute an offence under Canadian law. He has multiple convictions in New York State, including interference with commerce by threats or violence (conspiracy to commit robbery); carrying and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence; and attempted conspiracy. Rodriguez Hurtado was arrested in Toronto on August 6.
All three were arrested by the Toronto Immigration Task Force, a joint forces operation comprising law enforcement personnel from the CBSA and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who work together to apprehend high-risk migrant fugitives.
The "Wanted by the CBSA" Web site has proven to be a useful tool in assisting officers in locating individuals who are wanted for removal. To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" Web site, Canadians have assisted in locating 46 individuals in Canada, of which 39 have been removed. Additionally, nine individuals were located abroad.
Members of the public are reminded that they should not take action to apprehend the individuals listed on the CBSA Web site. Any information on the whereabouts of these wanted individuals should be reported to the CBSA Border Watch Toll-free Line at 1-888-502-9060.
