T-Video V3200 Designed Specifically to Meet Rapidly Increasing Demands for 4K/H.265 Encoding

(firmenpresse) - AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS and SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/11/13 -- , the premier provider of ultra high performance video encoding/transcoding platforms for mobile and broadband content providers, announced today at that the T-Video™ V3200 platform, powered by Intel, can transcode one Ultra High Definition (UHD) video stream in real-time using a single appliance. This solution handles the 80x more processing power needed for TV providers to deliver the next generation of ultra hicigh definition video to sophisticated subscribers. The same achievement would require 20 conventional servers to deliver just one UHD stream.

Powered by 4th generation Intel® Core™ i7-4700 processors and incorporating QuickFire Networks' V-Fabric™ high speed distributed interconnect software, the V3200 delivers the 80x increase in processing power necessary to encode a 4K/H.265 file in real-time using a single appliance. 4K/UHD coupled with H.265 represents the new standard in high resolution TV. With four times the pixels and twice the frame rate of standard HDTV, 4K/H.265 offers the highest image resolution currently available to mainstream consumers.

"As we work with our customers to migrate from 720p/H.264 to 4K/H.265, the conversation quickly shifts from the number of streams per server to the number of servers per stream. Conventional solutions require eight servers to handle a single 4K/H.265 stream, which is untenable," said Mike Coward, Founder and CEO of QuickFire Networks Corporation. "The T-Video V3200 is designed specifically to achieve real time 4K/H.265 encoding, handling the much larger 4K frame size as well as the 10x increased processor load that H.265 requires. Our product is poised to win the encoding race before other products have even entered the starting block."

"Achieving 4K/H.265 video encoding is a significant leap ahead and an important milestone for the industry," said Bill Rollender, marketing director, Intel Communications Infrastructure Division. "4th generation Intel® Core™ i7 processors allow the processing of ultra high resolution with a very high complexity encoder today, helping companies like QuickFire Networks meet the increasing expectations of consumers. The QuickFire Networks solution is an excellent example of how Intel's processors continue to define the state-of-the-art for communications appliances."

QuickFire Networks will demonstrate 4K/UHD H.265 encoding, via the T-Video V3200 powered by Intel, at IBC2013 at the Amsterdam RAI, September 13-17. (Hall 13, MS40).
