Colorado Energy Office to Use RESNET HERS(R) Index Scores to Promote Building of High Energy Performance Homes
(firmenpresse) - OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/09/13 -- The Colorado Energy Office and the Residential Energy Services Network have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote and track the market trends of new, Home Energy Rated System (HERS) rated homes across the state of Colorado.
The purpose of this agreement is to increase consumer knowledge and awareness of the energy performance of new homes through the use of the HERS Index. Created by RESNET, the is the industry standard by which a home's energy efficiency is measured. It is also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home's energy performance.
Under the terms of the memorandum, the Colorado Energy Office will provide quarterly and annual reports to real estate professionals, and the general public, regarding the use of the HERS Index Score for marketing new homes. In turn, RESNET will provide a quarterly and annual review of all newly built homes in Colorado that have HERS Index scores. Included would be statewide information about:
The agreement between the two parties supports the significant efforts already undertaken by the state of Colorado in promoting residential energy efficiency, and the construction of throughout the state. These efforts include:
