Pilot for Multimedia Online Training Through DialogEDU and GlobalHealth Education Significantly Improves Pharmacists' Clinical Knowledge About a New Breast Cancer Drug
(firmenpresse) - WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 09/04/13 -- Pharmacists at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute evaluated a multimedia online training platform through DialogEDU to learn about a newly approved breast cancer drug, according to a poster presented at the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in Dublin. Ninety-two percent of participants preferred the over previous methods of learning.
According to Sylvia Bartel, Vice President of Pharmacy at the DanaFarber Cancer Institute, "Pharmacists typically learn new information by attending in-service programs, in-classroom continuing education presentations, or by reviewing printed information from product manufacturers. The experience in the learning management system provided us with a unique learning opportunity. Standardized content delivery coupled with interactive simulations created an engaging environment, which fostered interaction between participants." Bartel, also stated, "The multimedia online learning platform DialogEDU provided pharmacists and other healthcare professionals flexibility to complete the training when time allowed, as well as to continue to use the material as a reference."
"Pharmacists described the online training through DialogEDU as being dynamic, comprehensive, efficient, and accessible," Bartel further reports. "We plan to expand the use of the DialogEDU platform for additional training needs including complex drug preparation/administration processes, and initial staff orientation."
The study was conducted in collaboration with , LLC (GHE) and DialogEDU. GHE offers online services to academic institutions as well as healthcare training enterprises whose mission it is to advance the knowledge and skills of consumers, students and practitioners.
