August 2013 Review
Books and magazines continued to perform well in August. DiscountMags offered the most number of deals this month with slashed prices on subscriptions to popular titles like Men's Journal, Reader's Digest, and Macworld. But our most popular deal this month came from Audible.com's $5 audiobook sale.
Back-to-school deals were particularly hot this year: we saw deals as low as 25 cents on school supplies from retailers like Target and Staples. Also, back-to-school apparel sales performed well in August. Thousands of members took advantage of sales from Aeropostale, Babies R Us, and Tilly's.
Last month, we predicted home improvement deals would perform well in August, and we were right! The most memorable deals came from Home Depot's $14 air filters and $150 patio dining set as well as the blowout sale on power tools from VMInnovations.
September 2013 Preview
Apparel sales should be prominent again after the back-to-school rush. Last year's 90% off clearance sale from Kohl's featured items from $1.50 and we expect the same this month. With fall coming up, we foresee outerwear sales from North Face and Gap.
Summer may be over, but that doesn't mean the BBQs have to end. Look for deals on grills and outdoor patio furniture to coincide with Labor Day events.
Last September was a good month for auto-related deals with buy 3, get 1 free tires from Sears and 30% off at Advance Auto Parts -- so be on the lookout for similar sales this month.
Dell monitors and laptops from various brands were popular last year, and while these will remain in-demand, we predict a shift into phones and tablets.
