Make this Last Long Weekend of Summer a Safe One-Drive Sober
(firmenpresse) - OAKVILLE, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 08/29/13 -- MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada are asking everyone to make sober driving a priority this Labour Day weekend.
"As Canadians look forward to the last long weekend of the summer, we're reminding everyone to protect themselves and one another from impaired driving," said MADD Canada National President Denise Dubyk. "If you're going to be drinking, please plan ahead for a safe and sober ride home. If you see a driver you think is impaired, call 911."
An average of 4 Canadians are killed and 175 are injured in impaired driving crashes every day. Traditionally, the summer months and long weekends are peak times for alcohol-related crashes, deaths and injuries.
MADD Canada and its volunteers across the country work with community partners and generous corporate sponsors such as Allstate Canada to remind Canadians:
"If consuming alcohol is going to be a part of your Labour Day weekend celebrations, please be sure to put the car keys away. Plan ahead. Call a cab, take the bus or arrange to have a designated driver," said Allstate Insurance Company of Canada President and CEO John O'Donnell. "Driving impaired is dangerous, illegal and could lead to an irreversible tragedy that can destroy lives."
