Affluent Investors' Economic Outlook Most Impacted by Health Care News
Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI(R)) Falls to Eight-Month Low
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 08/28/13 -- Health care, more than stock market conditions or the political environment, is the ongoing news most impacting Affluent investors' economic outlook, according to a survey by Spectrem Group.
Spectrem Group also announced that the Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) plunged 9 points in August to -9, an eight-month low. The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) also fell 3 points to 3.
The monthly indices measure the investment confidence and outlook of households with more than $500,000 in investables and more than $1 million in investables, respectively.
"Affluent investors are closely monitoring the ongoing debates over the Affordable Care Act as it relates to their own financial situation and job security," said George H. Walper Jr., President of Spectrem Group. "Ongoing attempts to defund the legislation and the possibility of a government shutdown over the issue were prominent news stories this month.
"The dramatic drop in the SAICI is a reflection of heightened concerns this month about the economy and continued government gridlock as well as stock market volatility," Walper Jr. added.

Methodology
The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) is based on 250 monthly online interviews with the financial decision-makers in households with $500,000 or more in investable assets. The Index has a margin of error of plus or minus 6.2 percentage points. The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) is based on a subset of the overall survey group.
