According to The Printing Industries of America (PIA), for the year 2010 the printing industry had total revenue of $162,200,000,000.00 (162.2 billion) and employed nearly 1,000,000 people nationwide. Primary figures for the three years since are trending towards even more growth. The advent of the computer and computer design as well as on-line print ordering, on one hand, have lowered cost creating fears of lost profit and revenue but the opposite has happened. Because of this streamlining of the industry, better and higher quality printing is now within the reach of so many more.
