Integrated System Simulation at the Dawn of ‘Industry 4.0’

(firmenpresse) - Dresden, August 22, 2013 – ITI GmbH, one of the global leaders in CAE and system simulation, today published the official program for its 16th ITI Symposium running from November 12 through 13, 2013, at the International Congress Center Dresden. This year’s event revolves around “Network-Based Product Development” and lays the focus on cross-industry applications of ITI’s simulation software SimulationX. More than 40 speakers from 12 countries, including such renowned companies and institutes as ABB, Aggreko, Aker Solutions, Alstom, BMW, Daimler, Fraunhofer, Honda R&D Europe, Jaguar, Liebherr and Takraf, discuss trends, concepts and projects in the field of integrated system simulation and the seamless integration of SimulationX into existing toolchains. The accompanying exhibition with ITI-partners offers the opportunity to get in touch with young engineers and experienced experts in research and development with various backgrounds. On November 14, ITI again hosts the Tutorial Day as part of the Symposium where in interactive workshops participants familiarize themselves with new program features and learn useful tips and techniques for a more efficient workflow with SimulationX.

Both days of the symposium offer a balanced mix of software and technology related presentations from ITI experts, partners and users from the SimulationX community. The event starts with Dr. Andreas Uhlig and Jens O. Schindler, the two general managers at ITI, welcoming all guests before Dr. Koichi Ohtomi, Chief Specialist at Toshiba’s Corporate R&D Center, introduces the concept and application of the innovative design approach called 1DCAE in his keynote. Day one at the symposium is entirely dedicated to users giving insight into their development projects. They demonstrate integrated solutions with SimulationX in automotive, power generation, mining and heavy machinery projects.

Day two focusses more on ITI’s partners presenting a series of innovative concepts and solutions from current developments in commercial and academic projects. The keynote delivered by Isao Tabushi, Senior Project Engineer at Honda R&D Europe, deals with the development of transmissions and shows ways of simulating both functional requirements and safety aspects in one model. Afterwards, ITI Manager Software Development, Thomas Neidhold, gives an outlook on the opportunities and risks of cloud-based modeling and simulation solutions. For the first time this year, there is a separate session for lecturers and training instructors who can learn more about current educational projects with SimulationX from their peer colleagues’ presentations.

Attendees, in particular those who have not worked with SimulationX before, get the chance to make themselves familiar with the software on one of the provided demonstration PCs. As part of interactive workshops on the Tutorial Day, ITI engineers and SimulationX developers demonstrate the latest software features and provide guidance for an efficient modeling and system optimization. The accompanying exhibition and the dinner event at the end of day one are ideal opportunities for an interdisciplinary discourse with speakers, exhibitors, ITI engineers and other attendees.

About SimulationX
SimulationX is the benchmark for modeling and simulating complex mechatronic systems. In contrast to other CAE software on the market (FEM, CFD, MBS), SimulationX provides customers with the capabilities to design and analyze entire systems including all sub-systems on a single platform. Users benefit from a large number of model libraries that work out of the box allowing simulations of various interacting physical effects – from 1D and 2D mechanics, MBS systems and drive technologies, hydraulics, pneumatics, thermodynamics to electronics, magnetics as well as analogue and digital control engineering – post-processing included. More than 700 available element types and over 300 sample models from 25 applications make modeling easier and faster. SimulationX supports the modeling language Modelica as well as Modelica libraries with open and complete CAx interfaces. More information about the product can be found at www.simulationx.com.
