Canadian International Trade Tribunal Finds No Injury: Galvanized Steel Wire From China, Israel and Spain
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 08/20/13 -- The Canadian International Trade Tribunal today found that the dumping and subsidizing of cold-drawn carbon or alloy steel wire, of solid cross section with an actual diameter of 1.082 mm (0.0426 inch) to 12.5 mm (0.492 inch), plated or coated with zinc or zinc alloy, whether or not coated with plastic, excluding flat wire, originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China, the State of Israel and the Kingdom of Spain have not caused and are not threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry. Anti-dumping and countervailing duties will therefore not be collected by the Canada Border Services Agency. The complainant in this case was Tree Island Steel Ltd. of Richmond, British Columbia.
The Tribunal will issue the reasons for its finding on September 4, 2013.
The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance. It hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, complaints about federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings. When requested by the federal government, the Tribunal also provides advice on other economic, trade and tariff matters.
