Media Advisory: Governor General to Deliver an Address at the 'Celebrating Philanthropy' Panel Discussion
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 08/20/13 -- His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will deliver an address at the 'Celebrating Philanthropy' panel discussion on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 5 p.m., at Carleton University, in Ottawa, Ontario.
Hosted by Carleton University's Master and Graduate Diploma in Philanthropy and Non-profit Leadership program, the panel discussion will serve to stimulate thinking about the importance of philanthropy and how it is evolving in Canada.
"I am pleased to celebrate both philanthropy and this new program at Carleton University-the first of its kind in Canada," said the Governor General. "Philanthropy is essential to building a smarter, more caring nation, and I am always interested to hear from community leaders, as well as from young people, about their thoughts on what the future of philanthropy is in this country."
About the Master and Graduate Diploma in Philanthropy and Non-profit Leadership program:
The School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University launched Canada's first Master and Graduate Diploma in Philanthropy and Non-profit Leadership in August 2013. The program is intended to develop the advanced skills and knowledge required of leaders and innovators in the increasingly sophisticated and complex environment of the philanthropic and non-profit sector, and to serve as a basis for other forms of capacity building for this sector. The master's diploma will be delivered primarily through a mix of intensive, two-week summer institutes and interactive online courses so that it is available to a national audience.
