This year's newcomers to the prestigious list include four energy and oil companies: PBF Energy Inc., Northern Tier Energy LP, Sandridge Energy, Inc., and Continental Resources, Inc. Many brand name companies also joined the Leadership 1000 ranks including J.Crew Group, Inc., Monster Beverage Company, Guitar Center, Inc., Panera Bread Company, and Quicksilver, Inc.
The biggest upset comes from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., stealing the number one slot from Exxon Mobile Corporation. The two companies have been in constant competition since Leadership 1000's inception; Wal-Mart last held the number one slot in 2011.
